Early 17th Century Menswear by MelissaDalton Early 17th Century Menswear by MelissaDalton
EDIT: I got some of my terms mixed up with the Trunk Hose and Petticoat Breeches. They're fixed now.

This is a something I am doing for my Fashion History course in college. It’s not mandatory, but I’m doing it to help me keep everything straight, and what better way to memorize and study fashion than to draw it. Since the fashion during this time is absolutely hilarious, I thought I would share on here as well. I’ll be doing women’s fashion next.

To put things in perspective Historical Figures include:
Galileo Galilei, Rene Descartes, Issac Newton, Thomas Hobbs, Blaise Pascal, and of course William Shakespeare, Anthony Van Dyke, Peter Paul Rubens, Frans Hals, Diego Velazquez, Rembrant van Rijn, Giovanni Bernini

Thanks for this! I've been working on my fantasy world, set in the general time period of the Thirty Year's War, and I needed some reference for civilians and general snappy-dressers.

High-heeled boots are still common. They're just not that high.
